Affectionately known as ‘The Prom’ by its innumerable devotees, Wilsons Promontory National Park is one of the oldest and most popular National Parks in Australia. Its mixture of quartz sand beaches, impossibly blue seas, granite peaks and picturesque islands combine to create a stunning coastline of rare beauty. Most of the photographs in this gallery are available in my new book 'The Prom - Wilsons Promontory National Park, Victoria, Australia' .

For me Mt Buffalo is quite simply the most stunning Alpine area in Victoria. It's mixture of alpine meadows, huge granite cliffs and tors really do make it a stand out scenery wise, it is also a fantastic destination for rock climbers.

As a kid almost every Christmas holiday was spent at Mallacoota so my affection for this area is very deep. Rocky coastlines, dune fields, lakes, river gorges and granite peaks something for everyone.

As a youngster some of my first family holidays were spent at Cumberland River in the Otways now I am a father my kids have had the same initiation. The Otways is home to literally hundreds of waterfalls and I have had great pleasure visiting about sixty of them so far. Having the highest rainfall in Victoria it's waterfalls are usually in good condition too.

I have the joy of working one day a week at a school in the Yarra Valley and often visit one of it's many waterfalls, cliffs or mountains after work. A wonderful place with a plethora of hidden delights.

When I first visited Tasmania many years ago it redefined the hiking experience for me. It's glacial formed landscape is just so ruggard and beautiful it almost defies belief. A place you just can't get enough of.

The Kosciuszko area was the only mainland range high enough in the last ice age to form glaciers and is now therefore the only alpine area on the mainland to have range top lakes. A beautiful area made even more stunning under winter snows.

Gippsland is the area east of Melbourne below the great dividing range up to the NSW border. This area contains an enormous amount of natural treasures including Phillip Island, Wilsons Promontory, Gippsland Lakes and Croajingolong not to mentioned the mountains. A very special start of the state.

My ancestors were amongst some of the earlier European settlers of the Victorian Alps so this area has always been special to me in more ways than one.
